Even though production numbers for first-generation Javelins far exceeded those for AMXs, it’s the latter that seem to appear at car shows and change hands more often, making us appreciate the Javelins that much more (not saying we’d kick a two-seater AMX out of the garage for leaking oil, that is). This 1969 AMC Javelin SST for sale on Hemmings.com may just be a 290 with aftermarket wheels, but with some work, it could be a real standout. From the seller’s description:
290 ci 4-bbl, 4-speed. Runs well, this car is a great driver, garaged and kept under a car cover. New tires, exhaust pipes, brakes, headliner, carpet. Paint is good, no radio, but I have the housing for it, clock still works, has original keys. A great car to fully restore, or just drive as is, gets lots of attention on the streets.
